How I came to be an Emotional Resilience Advocate

This post is written to share why I created courses in Emotional Resilience and where it all started.....

After my post yesterday, Quick Ways to centre yourself in Anxious times, you are probably curious as to how I came to be so passionate about other people's emotional resilience and where my trainings originate.

" Sometimes the most important lessons in life are the ones we learnt the hard way"

Just before the turn of the century I found myself struggling as a single mother of 3 beautiful young children and although I had external support, my knowledge and skills of resilience were minimal.  As my emotional and financial state slowly took its toll on my mental state I found myself at the doctor being prescribed anti-depressants.  I was "saved", or so I thought at the time.  Yes, it did make life easier, less emotional and I felt more at ease, able to cope with kids, work, life in general.

Eventually, about 10 years later, I felt strong enough that I didn't feel the need for medication any more. Then the problems started again.  Every time I would wean myself off the tablets, one of life's curveballs ( even the small ones) would throw me back into "I can't cope" mode and back onto a full dose of Prozac. So nothing had really changed, it was just a band aid for my emotions and coping abilities.

In following my path of self development, a local course in Hypnotherapy peaked my curiosity, and as I had always been the empathic friend I thought this could only benefit myself, friends and family.

And WOW!! It was some time throughout the Diploma that I finally unconsciously released the need for medication. I received so much knowledge and support, learning techniques to combat problems big and small that when the "I cant cope" moments arrived, I had the tools to cope and persevered and grew into the resilient person that I am today.  That doesn't mean that I don't have emotional times anymore, it means that I acknowledge and move through these times with flexibility (resilience).

My Qualifications now include;

Diploma Clinical Hypnotherapy

Nlp Practitioner

Clinical Resource Therapist

Professional Development in Gestalt Therapy, Family Constellations, Psychodrama, CBT, Schema Therapy Counselling, Certified Belief Clearing, Quit Smoking

A lot of time and resources have lead me to where I feel honoured to share what I have learnt and experienced. Whilst seeing clients in my practice I noticed that many issues could be avoided or solved quicker, easier and earlier if a level of Emotional Resilience knowledge was present. Hence the development of Emotional Resilience - Make It Happen!! courses and workshops originated.

By recognising our inner resources that are available to us we are able to grow mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually.

It is my greatest privilege to educate, assist and inspire people to find their inner resources that will enable them to become the best possible version of themselves that they can be, to live a happy fulfilling life.
